Batik is an ancient method of colour dyeing which originated in Indonesia , technically, batik is the process of applying dyes to porous surfaces such as paper, cotton, and silk. The technique of batik produces some beautiful inventive designs , the process brings unexpected elements of surprise . Wax is used to act as a barrier and applied to specific areas on the fabric or paper using a "tjantings" tool or a brush. The dyes used here are fibre reactive dyes which are vibrant and intermixable .Batik is practiced all around the world, and is becoming increasingly popular. Once the design is completed the work is then ironed with brown paper and a warm iron.. These designs are all one off original pieces . This collection is A4 size window mounted in card and can be framed by yourself . Alternatively the batik includes an A4 envelope for posting near or far and is an ideal gift to send to a friend or family member.
